Mark Plackett got his senior career off to a flying start on Saturday, with a top 20 finish at the Ellis Trophy race in Richmond Park, writes Matthew Kiernan.
The 15 year-old Croydon Harrier stopped the clock on 33 minutes exactly in his debut race in the senior ranks to finish in 16th position overall, and take third in the U17 category.
He was ably supported by club colleagues Martin Rowe (59th, 37.33) and Eric Campbell (100th, 49.46).
Elsewhere, Stirling Gibbons clocked a new 5km personal best time of 21.49 in the Roundshaw Park Time Trial, to place 13th out of the 53 competitors.
