A trio of Croydon Harriers picked up wins at the highly competitive U15/U20 Southern Inter-Counties Championships at Barnet Copthall on Saturday, writes Matthew Kiernan.
U20 Oweka Wanogho capped off his fine season with a 10.87 second clocking in the 100m to take the spoils, while Twinelle Hopeson (11.96) enjoyed similar success in the women’s equivalent.
Lawrence Okoye, sixth in this year’s World Junior Championships, displayed an impressive return to form in the U20 discus, winning thanks to a 58.64m effort.
And it could have been four wins for the Harriers, with Shirin Irving unluckily being edged out on the line to second in the U15 75m hurdles in 11.34.
Further podium finishes came courtesy of U20 Kariym Irving (high jump, 1.85m) and Patrick Lucas (800m, 2:06.26), who both came third.
Eleanor Smith-Hahn completed the Croydon contingent, narrowly missing out on the U15 100m final, finishing fifth in her heat in 13.13.
