St Mary's athletes in good form

Throwers Amir Williamson and Jade Nicholls were St Mary's Twickenham's only gold medallists in the British Universities Championships at Bedford.

Williamson took the men's hammer with a throw of 66.42m, beating his younger brother, Alistair, also at St Mary's, who managed 57.98m.

Nicholls won the women's discus by more than six metres with a throw of 47.09m.

St Mary's had two other silver medallists, led by Keith Gerrard, who was runner-up in the 1,500m in 14:31:18. Linzi Snow was also second in the women's 1,500m in 4:21:05.

Anthony Mattis took a bronze medal in the triple jump with a leap of 14.85m and Jenny Hill finished third in the women's 2,000m steeplechase in 7:09:29. Overall, St Mary's were fourth in the men's competition and seventh in the women's event.

Herne Hill's Jeremy Odametey won the triple jump with 15.16m.

Kingston and Polytechnic's Dominique Blaize picked up two medals competing for Brunel.

She was joint second in the high jump with 1.80m, and third in the shot with 12.02m. Clubmate David Cook achieved a PB of 7.28m in taking the long jump bronze medal.

Kingston & Polytechnic's Felix Hatton finished fourth in the men's javelin with a throw of 70.99m.
