Tue 10th May THAMES VALLEY LEAGUE ASHFORD 4pts v STANWELL 4pts Ashford have not had much luck at Stanwell over the last couple of seasons and were again thwarted by injury as happened in the same fixture last year. One of Ashfords players aggravated a previous shoulder injury and although he bravely continued was unable to help his side at all. The two games at Stanwell resulted in a 1 shot win and a 7 shot win to give them 4 points.However Ashford won the two games played at Ashford by 2 shots and 28 shots to get their 4 points.

Wed 11th May FORDBRIDGE MIXED LEAGUE ASHFORD 8pts v STAINES 2pts Ashford shocked Staines reversing last years result. They all played well and surged further ahead as the match continued. Staines did manage to win one of the triples 18 - 16 but Ashford won the other three triples 22 - 16, 24 - 8 and 27 - 6. Top scorers for Ashford were Maureen Gammon, Bob Odell and Colin Staples.

BOWLS ENGLAND NATIONAL MIXED PAIRS Ashfords' Ian Ford and Carol Stedman visited Isleworth and played some good bowls to beat Maureen Fullicks and Dave Vaughan from the home club. Ian and Carol will meet another Isleworth pair in the next round to be played at Ashford. Two other Ashford pairs were drawn against each other with Marion Bushnell and Matt Larman progressing to the next round.

Thu 12th May MIDDLESEX COUNTY WOMENS B.A.

FOURS CHAMPIONSHIP Ashford had three teams entered in the competition with all drawn at home. Wins against Staines and BA Concorde saw two of them progress to the next round. The third team lost to a strong N.P.L. rink..

Sat 14th May MIXED FRIENDLY MATCH ASHFORD 106 v DESBOROUGH 104 This was a keenly contested match with both sides eager to win. Desborough had a slight edge over the home team and were three shots ahead after five ends. As hard as they tried Ashfords efforts were in vain and at ten ends Desborough had extended their lead to eight shots. By the fifteenth end Desboroughs lead had reduced to six shots and they were resisting Ashfords fight back. Desborough had got back to an eight shot lead again on the nineteenth end and were looking to win the match. Ashford made a valiant effort in the last two ends and added seventeen shots to Desboroughs seven shots to completely turn the tables and snatch a two shot victory. Ashfords top scorers were Dennis Ayton, Norma Evans, Wally Cox and Derek Coleman with their 27 - 20 win, but all of the Ashford team played their part in this win.

Sun 15th May FORDBRIDGE MIXED LEAGUE SUNBURY 6pts v ASHFORD 4pts Sunbury began their first season in this league with a 6 - 4 win against Ashford. Both sides won two rinks each but Sunbury acheived the higher overall score to claim the two bonus points. Aileen Anderson, Ollie Higson and Ian Ford were Ashfords top scorers but the two losing rinks went down by too big a margin.
