A young Surrey Lions team will be putting people through their paces before they join cricket legend Sir Ian Botham on the sixth leg of his anniversary walk to beat childhood leukaemia.

The county's colts side are looking to forward to getting everyone ready to keep up with the famously quick all-rounder by challenging them to a game of cricket in Epsom Racecourse on April 15.

The talented youngsters, aged 12 or under, will play a 15-over soft ball game against a team made up of members of the public and, possibly, some famous faces.

The light-hearted warm-up will take place an hour before people join Beefy for the final four miles of the day’s walk to raise vital funds for blood cancer charity Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research.

Beefy's walk will begin outside of the Marks & Spencer's store on High Street, Sutton. He will walk nine miles through Sutton and Epsom, before arriving at Epsom Racecourse at 1.30pm, where he will rendezvous with the colts and people who will join him in exchange for fundraising.

Sir Ian says: "It is fantastic that England's Barmy Army Colts are joining me in the fight against childhood leukaemia.

“I need you to start fundraising and do everything you can because the more money we raise the more lives we can save. Join me on my walk and together we can make sure every child survives this terrible disease".
