Julian Speroni: Not at fault for either goal and commanded his box in the second half as Palace faced an onslaught. Punched confidently a few times too. 7

Danny Butterfield: Struggled against McAnuff for the first half and was deservedly booked but got better in the second and eventually won his battle. 6

Jose Fonte: The decision against him for the penalty looked particularly harsh and he made a few excellent interceptions and blocks in his own box. 8

Clint Hill: Switched to centre-back to mark his 100th appearance for the club and after a dodgy opening 20 minutes settled into the position. Defended resolutely. 7

Nathaniel Clyne: Played like he had never been out of the team and had a maturity beyond his years. Goal was a superb strike too and you could see how much it meant to him by his celebration. 8

Shaun Derry: Not back to his best but still a lot better than he was on Saturday and looked determined to come away with three points. 7

Johnny Ertl: Did all the simple things again and constantly put his body on the line when Reading were pushing to get back into the game. 7

Neil Danns: Recovered from his horror miss on Saturday and perhaps should have scored again with free header in the first half. Great tackle set up Ambrose's goal. 7

Darren Ambrose: Apart from the goal he had a relatively quiet game but if he keeps scoring strikes like that no one will care about anything else. 7

Victor Moses: Showed what he is all about and stole the show not only with his two wonder goals but with his willingness to run at the defenders and track back as well. He had Tabb in his pocket all night and with a bit more look, and better finishing, he could have scored even more. Man of the match. 9

Calvin Andrew: Given a surprise starting spot and it took him a while to get up to pace but came more and more into the game as it went on. Set up Moses's first goal. 7

subs:

Alan Lee (Andrew, 65): Worked hard and won a few free kicks. 6

Alassane N'Diaye (Ambrose, 81): Brought on to add some height as Reading looked for an equaliser. 6

Freddie Sears (Moses, 90): Late introduction was only so Moses could get the applause he deserved from Palace and Reading fans alike. 5
