Palace star Wilfried Zaha is set for an extended stay in SE25 after he shook hands on a new five-year deal yesterday.
The youngster is expected to make it official by putting pen to paper later this week and Dougie Freedman is delighted the 19-year-old has committed his future to the club.
He confirmed: “I spoke to Wilfried last week and asked him one question which was: ‘Do you want to stay?’
“He said ‘Yes I do,’ within a couple of seconds, so as soon as I heard those words the chairman goes into talks with the agents.
“The chairman has worked hard to bring him in line with the rest of the first team squad and I’m told they have done it over a handshake.”
“Wilfried is becoming a hard working young professional and is getting his rewards. He is an example to the rest of the young players that if you work hard you get your rewards.”
