Palace boss denies Clyne to United rumours

Ready for action: Nathaniel Clyne Ready for action: Nathaniel Clyne

Dougie Freedman says he has heard nothing about Crystal Palace being in talks with Manchester United over Nathaniel Clyne and will have no problems playing the right back in tomorrow's Carling Cup semi-final.

It was reported over the weekend that the club were in discussions with the Red Devils over a possible £3m move for last season's player of the year, who is out of contract in the summer.

But Freedman denied there has been any approach and will play Clyne, who has missed the last four games with a combination of being rested and illness, against Cardiff tomorrow if fit.

"There has not been one single approach for one of my players so, so far so good," he said.

"Professionally, young Nathaniel is fine and our relationship is fantastic.

"If he is fit and he is on form then he will play as he has contributed to the team's defence.

"We have kept many clean sheets this year and he has been involved in them.

"The game may make him more aware to the Premier League but it is something I am not too concerned about right now, he will play in a unit that will hopefully defend our lead."
