George Burley is on the hunt for a new striker after the departure of Alan Lee to Huddersfield.
The target man competed a deal to join the Terriers on Wednesday leaving the Palace boss keen to find a replacement for the 32-year-old Irishman.
“Alan Lee was made a very good offer by Huddersfield. He came to see me last week and I couldn't stand in his way. I will be looking to replace him.” He said.
“Obviously, the transfer deadline is on Tuesday and then after that we have a bit of time for loans as well so we are definitely hoping to being someone else in.”
Darren Ambrose is for tomorrow's trip to Scunthorpe United, while Wilfried Zaha is suspended for three games after his sending off against Portsmouth in midweek.
Palace have not appealed even though Burley insists the red card was unjustified.
He said: “I have spoken to a number of assessors about it and have given my opinion.
"I told them that the referee didn't even see it as he could have spoken to the linesman.
“Was there any contact made? No. Did he try and kick his head? No. Was the player injured? No. Was it a reckless type of thing? Yes.
"I don't think it was a sending off but he was and now he misses three games.”
Burley continued: “It was a joy to watch his quality on Tuesday so that is the biggest disappointment.
"To miss somebody like that, for the boy's sake is poor. But he will learn.
"Next time he will have to be more disciplined, which is difficult at times.
"He will learn from it as he is a fantastic talent.”
