Wilfried Zaha is on the brink of signing a permanent deal with Crystal Palace, ending a frustrating two-year spell at Manchester United.

The 22-year-old failed to make an impact at Old Trafford and made only two Premier League appearances for United after a £10m move in 2013.

However, since joining the club on loan in August, the England international has shown glimpses of the scintillating form that helped Palace win promotion to the Premier League in 2013.

Palace are hoping to pay around £6m for the winger, who has made 15 league appearances this season and scored once.

Sources says both parties are keen on making a deal work, but United’s desire to get closer to the fee they paid for the player two years ago may present a stumbling block.

If the south Londoners can reach a deal Zaha will become the club’s fifth signing of the window after Senegalese left-back Pape Souare arrived from Lille for an undisclosed fee last Friday.

The 24-year-old has represented his country five times and Palace are rumoured to have paid £3.4m to secure his signature.

The deal is subject to a work permit being granted to the defender, who featured at last month’s Africa Cup of nations.

Souare has signed a three-and-a-half-year deal at the club and could be in line to make his debut in Palace’s visit to Leicester on Saturday.
