Yannick Bolasie feels he is “still in Africa” despite returning from the African Cup of Nations at the start of last week.

The 25-year-old was part of the Democratic Republic of Congo side that clinched third place after beating hosts Equatorial Guinea on penalties.

However, the Crystal Palace winger says he has not had time to settle in or see many teammates since his return to London.

“I haven’t really had any chance to spend any time with anyone yet,” said Bolasie.

“For me, it’s been training and then home, trying to spend time with my family as I haven’t really been here and haven’t had chance to settle back in yet. I’m still in Africa, to be honest.

“Hopefully this week goes back to normal because I’ve got a routine that I get back into and can look forward to the games coming up.

“My phone was off out there [in Equatorial Guinea] because I had no service so it was a bit tough to get through to everyone.

“I’ve seen Mile [Jedinak] but hopefully he’s back next week - him and James McArthur too.”

Marouane Chamakh’s Morocco did not feature at the African Cup of Nations after they pulled out of hosting the competition but Bolasie said he would look forward to facing his club teammate at the tournament in the future.

“It’s always an honour to play against your teammates at the club; it would be a nice occasion,” he said.

Bolasie made his first appearance for Palace since his return in the club’s 2-1 FA Cup defeat at home to Liverpool on Saturday and was substituted after 72 minutes.

He added: “It was probably just tactical, but for myself I did feel it a little bit [tired] to be honest and hopefully I will have some time to refresh.”
