Marouane Chamakh reckons tiredness was behind Crystal Palace’s FA Cup exit to Liverpool on Saturday.

Frazier Campbell gave Palace the lead early in the first half but goals from Daniel Sturridge and Adam Lallana after the break gave Liverpool a 2-1 win at Selhurst Park.

Chamakh says his side were upset by the fifth round exit, but claims tiredness might have played a part in their defeat.

“We are disappointed with this game because we wanted to do something in the FA Cup and it was a game at home,” said Chamakh.

“We had a big chance as we had more power than the other team because the home fans are really fantastic.

“We were ready to do something - even draw to have another game in Liverpool - but it was not to be.

“It was the second game in a week, maybe we were a little bit tired, but we gave everything.”

Campbell scored his second goal in a week to take his tally up to five goals in all competitions for Palace and Chamakh praised his teammate’s recent good form.

“I was happy for Fraizer to score again, of course,” he said.

“He is working very hard in training and I was very happy for him. I hope he’s going to be like that until the end of the season.”
