Scott Dann might have won the points for Crystal Palace at Liverpool, but the defender has been quick to divert praise away from himself.

Yannick Bolasie put the Eagles ahead at Anfield on Saturday before Philip Coutinho levelled matters just before the break.

But, with eight minutes left, Dann headed Palace back in front, and they held onto the win and climbed to 10th in the Premier League table as a result.

Dann said: “It was great to get the goal and great to get the three points, and the performance we put in as a team as top drawer.

“We knew we were capable of winning there, we did it last year, so we made sure we had that belief and we deserved it.”

He added: “We went into the game knowing they will play a high pressure game.

“In defence, you have to have the belief in each other to know when it is the right time to play and keep the ball, and the right time to spin the men in behind, and I think we got the mixture right.

“The lads at the top of the pitch not only carried out a good defensive job, but they did will going forward as well working tirelessly.

“If we can keep Wifried [Zaha] and Yannick [Bolasie] in that type of form together, we can go into any game knowing that we have the right tools to beat any team.

“We knew it would be difficult coming here, but when you have players like that it’s a great outlet and they played really well today.”
