Dwight Gayle is facing a waiting game after picking up a hamstring injury last week.

The striker missed Crystal Palace’s win at Liverpool, but he is hopeful of returning for the Monday night clash with Sunderland at Selhurst Park.

Palace will be looking to build on the 2-1 win at Anfield, a result boss Alan Pardew said gave his side renewed momentum.

As for the struggling Black Cats, under new boss Sam Allardyce, they are still looking for a first away win of the season.

Gayle said: “I felt a niggle before the Liverpool game but hopefully it is not too bad, and hopefully I am back playing as soon as I can.

"There's not a certain date, I'm just going to see how it goes.”
