Crystal Palace midfielder James McArthur insists he would welcome former Tottenham star Emmanuel Adebayor to Selhurst Park.

The Togo international has been strongly linked with a move to the Eagles after Alan Pardew confirmed an interest in the forward last week.

Adebayor was released by Spurs in September but hopes to revitalise his career at another Premier League club.

McArthur, 28, says the Palace dressing room would be open to anyone who can add goals - even if the striker has not played for several months.

“We’ll welcome anyone right now, it’ll give the players a boost,” he said.

“He’s a top player and he’s been at a number of clubs, he knows what it’s like to win every single week.

“We’ve got a good squad though, I actually thought Connor [Wickham] played well tonight.”

After a fine start to the season, Palace’s Premier League form has dropped off since Christmas.

The South Londoners have failed to win since December 19 and only registered one goal – an own goal against Tottenham – during that spell.
