Liverpool legend Steve Nicol reckons Liverpool will be in “trouble” if they keep Mamadou Sakho.

Sakho, 27, has not played for the Reds in over a year after falling out with Anfield chief Jurgen Klopp.

He spent the second half of the season on-loan at Palace and helped the club avoid relegation. And the Eagles want to sign the £30m-rated defender this summer.

Nicol, who made over 350 appearances for Liverpool, thinks it would be a disaster if the Reds kept the France international.

He said: “There is a chance Sakho ends up back at Liverpool in defence. If they don't make any signings then they are going to have to keep him.

“If you think Sakho is our saviour then we're in trouble.”
