Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish has hit back at reports saying a consortium, led by former Arsenal captain Tony Adams, has agreed to buy the club.

On Monday evening, a national newspaper claimed Adams was part of a £200m deal to acquire the Eagles.

But Parish, who took over at Selhurst Park in 2010, denied the claims on social media.

He said: “This story is not true, there are no deals in place or discussions to sell the club.

“I shook his hand and said ‘hello’ once at an Arsenal game for 10 seconds, other than that I've never met him.”

“No one has an option to buy the club least of all Tony Adams and his mythical consortium.”

Adams made over 500 appearances for Arsenal during a heavily successful 19-year spell, winning four top-flight titles, three FA Cups and more.

He has not fared as well as a manager, though, bossing Wycombe, Portsmouth and most recently, Granada, last season. The Spanish side were relegated from La Liga under Adams’ watch.
