Crystal Palace has slammed some of its own fans following the goalless draw at Brighton last night.

Two stewards were taken to hospital after crowd trouble broke out as Brighton accused Eagles supporters of attempting to gain access to the Amex Stadium without tickets.

Police said they dealt with a number of incidents of disorder both in the city centre and at the ground.

In and around Brighton station there were a number of scuffles as fans travelled to the Amex.

One man was seen being led away by police with blood pouring from the back of his head.

The trouble at the station led to huge queues, with some supporters missing the start of the game.

It was also reported last night that a number of Palace fans were denied entry to the stadium and were instead kettled by police back to Falmer station.

Inside the ground, fans let off a number of flares – banned in football stadiums – throughout the match.

A Palace statement reads: “We have been made aware of a small group of supporters attempting to gain access to the Amex stadium last night without tickets while using bangers and flares.

“This kind of antisocial and criminal behaviour is completely unacceptable and we condemn it in the strongest possible terms.

“There are very clear images of the incident and we will work with the police to identify the supporters involved, who will face stadium bans as well as potential criminal proceedings.

“We would like to apologise to all the innocent supporters who arrived at the stadium with tickets but were denied entry and to the two stewards who were injured at the ground. We wish them a full and speedy recovery.

“Any supporters with legitimate, unscanned match tickets should email either a picture of the ticket, or the unique seven-digit ID number on the ticket, to boxoffice@cpfc.co.uk, together with their personal details, and arrangements will be made for a refund.”
