New Everton boss Sam Allardyce is set to raid his old club Crystal Palace in January.
Allardyce, who guided Palace to safety in May, has been tasked with another rescue act this term – the Toffees have won just five league games.
The former England manager brought Eagles defender Patrick van Aanholt to Selhurst Park in a £12m deal last January.
And Allardyce wants to work with the Dutch full-back for a second time.
Van Aanholt has lost his first-team place to Jeffrey Schlupp since Roy Hodgson took over in September.
Everton’s only senior left-back is Leighton Baines, who is 32 years old and prone to injuries.
And Van Aanholt, 27, would provide much-needed competition to Baines at Goodison Park. He played under Big Sam during their Sunderland days.
The former Chelsea trainee has three years left on his Palace deal.
