Crystal Palace are rock bottom of the Premier League after Sunderland's first win of the season lifted the Black Cats above the Eagles.
A Mikel Arteta penalty and a late Olivier Giroud header did for Palace at Selhurst Park in a 2-0 defeat.
Meanwhile, a late Fabio Borini header gave Gus Poyet his first win as Sunderland manager in a 2-1 win over Newcastle United at the Stadium of Light.
Palace's interim manager Keith Millen spoke of his pride after his side's battling performance, but the search for a new manager is already under way, with Millen saying he has no desire to be considered on a permanent basis.
