Wilfried Zaha is looking to force his way back into England reckoning after returning to the ground where he made his name and first caught the eye of Roy Hodgson in 2012.

The Croydon-born winger completed a £15m move to Old Trafford in January 2013 and was Alex Ferguson’s last signing before his retirement.

But by the time he had arrived at Old Trafford after being loaned back to the Eagles and playing a major role in Palace’s promotion, David Moyes was in charge of the Red Devils and the 21-year-old never really got his chance.

Now, though, Zaha believes he has his chance to get back on the pitch and start enjoying his football again after returning to Selhurst Park for a seconmd loan spell.

Zaha said: “Sir Alex Ferguson was the one who bought me but he had left by the time I got there and different managers have different perspectives on players but that’s all in the past.

“I’m here now and all I have to think about is the future and do my best.

“I am a footballer, so what am I doing not playing?

“It was a bit frustrating so I am just glad to be back and playing.”

He added: “I know how everything works here and the gaffer just wants to give me game time to improve my game, so I’m glad I’m back.

“There’s nothing like being on the pitch and the crowd singing your name and the whole atmosphere is good, so I am really enjoying it.

“I need to work on my movement a little bit so that I can get on the ball a bit more so that I can impact on the game for longer periods, but I’ll work on that.

“I’m just looking to improve and get back into the England set up.”
