Crystal Palace’s latest goal-scoring hero Fraizer Campbell says he could not have asked for more from his first goal for the Eagles.

Campbell bagged the second Palace goal in their 3-2 win at Everton on Sunday to help give the travelling Eagles army their first Premier League win of the season.

His strike, sandwiched by a Mile Jedinak penalty and a Yannick Bolasie effort, also lifted Palace off the foot of the table.

Taking their place are Newcastle United, who Palace face on Wednesday night in the third round of the Capital One Cup at Selhurst Park.

Campbell said: “I was delighted to score but also to come to a difficult place and get three points.

“We looked at Palace’s previous results at Everton and we’ve got a great track record, and the lads showed why.

“We got stuck in and stuck to our guns and everyone worked hard to get the right result.

“Everton, with their past couple of results, have done really well. It was important we calmed them down and then managed to score.”

He added: “It was perfect to score and celebrate in front of our fans too.

“It was a great ball in from Martin [Kelly]. He had a great afternoon and worked well down the right.

“He just crossed it in and I’ve just jumped and headed it in. The fans were loud before the game and were right towards the final whistle.

“They have been brilliant to me and they really helped the lads.”

Palace boss Neil Warnock said: “This gives everyone a lot of belief.

“We should have won the other two games against Newcastle and Burnley and we were disappointed not to.

“I thought we deserved to win it. We were apprehensive in the first 20 minutes and gave them a bit too much respect but from that moment we grew into the game and we said it was a game we could go on and try to win.”

He added: “What pleased me was that Everton are a good side and we had to hang in there at times and put our head in and make tackles and blocks, and I like that kind of football.”
