Crystal Palace defender Scott Dann enjoyed the sweet taste of the 2-0 victory over Leicester City on Saturday in more ways than one.

Goals from Fraizer Campbell and Mile Jedinak ensured that the Eagles continued their unbeaten Premier League run under Neil Warnock, climbing to eighth in the table in the process.

However, according to Dann getting the three points was nice, but keeping a clean sheet was the icing on the cake.

“As a defender, the main thing is keeping a clean sheet first and foremost, and we say that before every game,” the 27-year-old said.

“The three points are the most important thing but it’s always nice to get a clean sheet, it’s the icing on the cake.”

In front of Dann lies the three Js of James McArthur, Mile Jedinak and Joe Ledley, a midfield combination that Dann says nullifies any attacking threat before it even reaches the back four.

“They all put a really good shift in and work well off of each other,” said the former Blackburn Rovers defender.

“When you’re defending and under pressure they block the gaps up and it makes it a lot easier.

“Mile is a big asset for us as when we haven’t got the ball he’s really good at buying us time, James has just come in and Joe as well - they all work really well together.”

The Leicester victory saw Warnock’s side go four league games unbeaten following draws with Newcastle and Burnley and an away victory at Everton.

SE25 looks rosy with the squad starting to gel together, with even Dann weighing in with an assist on Saturday.

“It was nice to help Fraizer get his goal today,” he said.

“He works ever so hard up front. He’s a really good player and does a job for the team, in the past two games he’s got his just rewards with two goals in a row, and it will give him a big boost in confidence so hopefully he can start scoring a few more.

“On the back of the Everton win the lads were high and confident and we took that into the game today.

"We probably started a little bit slow but we grew into the game and, especially in the second half, we played really well and played some good stuff.”

Despite their unbeaten run, Dann was quick to emphasise that the Eagles’ squad are keeping their feet firmly on the ground as they find themselves in the top half of the Premier League, but next Saturday they face a long trip to Hull for their next Premier League clash.

“We don’t want to get carried away,” said Dann. “We’ve won two on the bounce and got some more points on the board but it’s a long way to go to the end of the season.

“We’ll be going into next week on a high, we’ll be wanting to carry on and get another three points on the board but like every game in the league it will be tough.”
