Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew wants more to be done to drop ticket prices in the Premier League.

Palace fans have been forced to fork out more than £40 in some cases ahead of this weekend's trip to West Ham United.

The prices have caused costernation on Twitter with supporters demanding something be done to stop regular fans being priced out of the national game - something Pardew is in agreement with.

He said: “I think it's an agenda that we as a club are focusing on, away fans should get a better rate to make it easier.

“With all the finances coming into the Premier League, it’s something that should be looked at by the league and by the chairman of the Premier League.”

Pardew believes fans deserve to be getting a fairer deal especially in light of the recent TV deal the Premier League signed.

More than £5b was paid to the Premier League by Sky Sports and BT Sports for the Premier League television rights, with more expected from the sell off of global rights, and Pardew wants to see this invested back towards the fans.

Similarly, the Palace boss says his is a view that will not only be shared by fans, but by clubs across the country.

He said: “I think it will resonate with clubs up and down the country and I think there’s some feeling towards it.

“With a new TV contract there’s no reason why that can’t be addressed.”

This comes off the back of Pardew releasing an open letter urging Palace fans to get down to the West Ham game.

Tickets for Eagles fans are £44, a price Pardew admits is expensive, but he hopes to get as many fans behind his team as possible.

Addressing his letter, he said: “I wanted to highlight the fact that we hadn’t sold many tickets , they were expensive and I understand that, I wish they were cheaper.

“If the fans could possibly afford it to come along because it’s going to be a big afternoon for us.”

Pardew further asserted that the reason for his stance on ticket prices is solely focused on the needs of the fans.

He said: “These messages start with your fans and I’m just echoing my personal opinion with what I think our fans want, and what fans up and down the country want.

“They want to follow a team, they want a good seat with a good view of the game, and at a decent price that makes it viable to travel.”
