Alan Pardew has hit back at Sunderland manager Sam Allardyce for his “pre-historic” comments about Crystal Palace’s FA Cup semi-final success.
Allardyce claimed the Eagles would be “on the pop” all week following their 2-1 win over Watford last Sunday.
The manager even said he would put money on Newcastle beating Palace at St James’ Park as the relegation battle intensifies.
The Magpies secured a 1-0 win yesterday with Andros Townsend scoring a superb free-kick and Yohan Cabaye missing a second-half penalty to rescue a point.
But responding to Allardyce’s comments, Pardew said: “He hasn't got a case. Just send him the video.
“They're pre-historic comments. I don't know what era he's in.
“Three or four of my players don't drink. Perhaps he meant Coca-Cola. It's nonsense.”
