AN UNUSUAL bus hijacking which ended when the driver pulled into a police station will be screened on television.
Armed response cops and a police helicopter gave chase when 53-year-old hijacker, unemployed Martin Cass forced the driver of a 320 bus to take him from Biggin Hill to Bromley at gunpoint.
Using original CCTV footage from the bus company and actors, a TV production company plans to recreate the dramatic 20-minute journey.
Producers say it will form part of a series on “quirky crimes” to be screened in the autumn.
A spokesman said: “We liked this case because it was so unusual, given the fact the bus followed its normal route ending up at Bromley police station.” Cass, of Timbertop Road, Biggin Hill, jumped on the bus in Biggin Hill valley, ordered passengers off and told the driver: “Take me to Bromley.” Metrobus bosses pointing out the 320 goes to Bromley anyway. Operations manager John Hill said: “If he paid his fare it would have taken him there.” Cass was charged with kidnapping and firearms-related offences and was sentenced to three-and-a-half years in prison at the Old Bailey in January.
