The sister of an Addiscombe woman killed in a horrific car smash has this week paid tribute to her "bubbly" twin and urged witnesses to the accident to come forward.

Michelle Berry, of Stroud Green Way, died a day after she celebrated her 34th birthday with twin sister Samantha Marshall, following the three-car accident in South Norwood on May 19.

The mum-of-two died at the scene after the crash involving a BMW, a VW Polo and her Metro at around 5.30pm on Portland Road. The drivers of the other vehicles escaped with minor injuries.

More than 150 people were at Michelle’s funeral last Friday (June 6) at the Church of Our Lady of Annunciation in Bingham Road, Addiscombe, followed by a burial service in Beckenham Cemetery.

Her twin Samantha said: "We would like to thank everyone for making it such a memorable day. Michelle was so well-liked and this was reflected in the amount of people who turned up to pay their respects.

"It was such a shock for us. Michelle was so bubbly and funny. She really enjoyed life.

"We’re doing our best to hold things together. Myself, my sister and our mother have been staying at Michelle’s house to take care of her children.

"The kids have taken it hard but as long as they’ve got us around to talk to and look after them we’ll get through this. We’re just taking it day by day at the moment."

Michelle had lived in Croydon since 1992 and at the time of her death worked for the police’s criminal justice unit.

Michelle’s older sister Marie Marshall added: "She used to work at Ashburton School and I understand they will be organising a plaque in her memory."

The Marshall family is urging anyone who witnessed the accident who has not yet contacted police to do so immediately.

Anyone with information should call the Collision Investigation Unit at Catford on 020 8284 5988, who are investigating the accident.
