Under-fire Labour MP George Galloway will be rallying the anti-war troops at a meeting in Tottenham on Wednesday.

The suspended Labour MP for Glasgow Kelvin will be addressing anti-war groups at the College of North East London in High Road, Tottenham.

MP for Tottenham, David Lammy, who faced severe criticism from some residents for his support of the war in Iraq, has been challenged to appear at the meeting by organisers.

Weyman Bennett, of Tottenham Stop The War Group, said: "Mr Lammy put his own career before the morality of this unjust war, and he completely ignored the feelings of Tottenham people, who he totally failed to represent."

Mr Galloway, who has been a member of Parliament for almost three decades, has experienced a fall from grace in recent months after accusations appeared in the Daily Telegraph which linked him to the payroll of Sadaam Hussein's regime.

After vowing to take the newspaper to court for libel, he was subsequently suspended from the Labour Party after inflammatory anti-war comments he made during the conflict.

But on Wednesday he will fight back, explaining the reasons why he opposed the war and he will call on British and American troops to withdraw from Iraq immediately.

Joining Mr Galloway on the platform will be John Rees, of the Stop the War coalition, and Dr Siddiqui of the Muslim Parliament.

Simon Hester, of Green Lanes United Against The War, added: "Everything we said against the war on Iraq has been proved right – there never were any weapons of mass destruction."
