Reading 4 v 2 Crystal Palace

Reading: Hahnemann, Armstrong, Doyle, S. Hunt, Kebe, Harper (c), Ingimarsson, Karacan, Rosenior, Long, Pearce. Subs: N. Hunt, Convey, Bikey, Federici, Kelly.

Palace: Speroni, Butterfield, McCarthy, Lawrence, Hill, Derry (c), Soares, Carle, Oster, Hills, Andrew. Subs: Scannell, Moses, Lee, Ertl, Fletcher.

Neil Warnock makes two changes from the side that started against Burnley last weekend as Lee Hills comes in for Leandre Griffit and Calvin Andrew replaces Jamie Scowcroft. New signing Alan Lee is on the bench.

4 min: Hunt volleys over from six yards after good work from Doyle. Was a tough chance as it came to him quick. Place have battled hard so far.

6 min: Butterfield's cross is just taken away from Andrew's head and Oster's corner is straight to Hahnemann. Great atmosphere here, lots of noise. Oster is getting booed by the Reading fans - he left there this summer.

11 min: Ingimarsson's nudge on Andrew earns a free-kick down the right but Hill's header from Oster's cross fails to find a Palace shirt and it's cleared. Andrew then wins a corner and Carle's cross is cleared.

12 min: Carle again gets the ball in, this time a fizzing cross shot that could have gone anywhere but evades evades everyone. McCarthy then does well to head away down the other end under pressure. Good game this, good tempo.

14 min: YELLOW CARD. Carle booked for tackle on Kebe but he quite clearly got the ball.

16 min: Palace hit the crossbar as Hahnemann flaps at Andrew's cross but it goes behind for a corner that Hahnemann claims a bit more convincingly.

18 min: GOAL! Reading take the lead. Rosenior skinned Hills on the wing and though Speroni brilliantly saves Hunt's shot at point blank range Harper is quickest to the rebound.

21 min: Palace could be 3-0 down now as first Butterfield clears Hunt's inswinging corner off the line and on to the post and then Speroni saves brilliantly from Ingimarsson's header. There's some shouting going on in the Palace defence about the marking there. Hill is livid.

27 min: Carle makes space for himself 20 yards out but shoots wide from the corner of the box.

29 min: Speroni saves from Hunt after Kebe made a fool of Butterfield with a neat trick and set up Hunt who should have done better.

36 min: PENALTY AND GOAL! Carle's half-volley from the edge of the box is blobked by Harper's arm and the ref points to the spot. Calr steps up and puts it calmly in the bottom right corner. Palace have finally scored.

40 min: Palace are playing again now and it's Andrew that's inspiring them. It was his looping cross that led to the penalty and he is holding up play magnificently. Throw in the the pin-point 40 yard cross field pass he just sent to Oster and he is running things for the Eagles. Needs the rest of the team to catch up with him though.

45 min: Oster shoots wide from 18 yards after some fantastic skill from Carle to get his cross in. McCarthy looks like he might be struggling with an injury.

HALF TIME: Palace may be level but Reading have probably shaded it on skill and creativity. They show glimpses of real Premiership class at times. Palace have played better than any other game this season but the same problem remains - where will the goals come from? Apart from the penalty and a few long shots Palace have created little.

SUB: Lee comes on to make his debut in place of the injured McCarthy. Hill goes centre-back and Hills left back. Andrew is now left wing and Hill upfront alone.

48 min: Wonderful football from Reading sees Kebe get in round the back but his cutback misses everyone.

54 min: What a save from Speroni. Derry lost the ball on the edge of the box and Doyle was given time to set up a super volley that was heading for the corner until Speroni somehow got his left hand to it at full stretch. Super football.

57 min: End to end football as Hunt wastes a good counter attack then Lee is denied a debut goal by Armstrong's last ditch header. Then it's right back up the other end as Long flashes a shot across goal. Great game and Reading are probably shading it.

60 min: YELLOW CARD. Lee swivels and shoots but it's straight at Hahnemann. Karacan booked for a late tackle on Carle.

62 min: Butterfield saves Palace with two amazing last-ditch tackles.

63 min: GOAL! Soares put Palace ahead. Lee dinked a cross to the back post and Soares chested it past Harper and through Hahnemaan's legs.

65 min: GOAL! Reading back on level terms immediately as Hunt's corner finds Doyle completely unmarked two yard out. Speroni maybe should have come for that.

68 min: GOAL! Doyle scores again form another corner. This time Speroni got a hand to the original corss but Karacan's shot back in was turned home by Doyle a yard out.

69 min: SUB: Long replaced by Noel Hunt.

72 min: Attendance 20,441 as Carle curls a free-kick over.

72 min: SUB: Oster replaced by Scannell.

75 min: Noel hunt fired over when well-placed. Palace are trying here but again not creating much. Reading are hitting them on the break a lot but play some wonderful football when doing it.

76 min: SUB: Derry off, Fletcher on.

78 min: Fletcher fires wide from distance. Palace have gone 4-4-2 with Soares on the right wing and Scannell up with Lee.

84 min: Hill is clutching his hamstring but playing on nonetheless. He goes in two-footed on Doyle and is lucky he got the ball.

89 min: HAT-TRICK: Doyle gets his third as Stephen Hunt's corner is headed back across goal by Pearce and Doyle nods in two yards out. That's three goals frome corners. Just before that Speroni denied Noel Hunt when one on one.

FULL TIME Palace are made to wait for their first win of the season as Reading's class eventually told through. They had to really on three poached goals by Kevin Doyle though, all from corners that Warnock won't be happy about. If Palace had managed to hold on to their lead for a few minutes after Soares scored things may have been different. Reading were a class above though and many more teams are going to go the same way as Palace did today. See you after the international break.
