DERBY COUNTY 1 v 2 CRYSTAL PALACE

Welcome to this afternoon's game at Pride Park with me Graham Moody.

Neil Warnock makes one change to the side that drew with QPR last week as Shefki Kuqi is reinstated to the starting 11 with Paul Ifill the man to drop out - presumably he is injured as he is not even on the bench.

There are also welcome returns for Alan Lee and Danny Butterfield on the bench, while Nathanial Clyne stays at right back and Matt Lawrence misses out on the 16 altogether.

Derby include ex-Eagle Darren Powell in their starting line-up, while Ruben Zadkovich, who almost signed for Palace in the summer, is on the bench.

Palace: Speroni, Clyne, Fonte, McCarthy, Hill (c), Watson, Carle, Oster, Beattie, Scannell, Kuqi. Subs: Derry, Lee, Moses, Butterfield, Griffit.

Derby: Carroll, Connolly (c), Stewart, Kazmierczak, Commons, Ellington, Varney, Addison, Barazite, Powell, Tomkins. Subs: Bywater, Villa, Hulse, Zadkovich, Albrechtsen.

1 min: Palace get the game under way. Nice stadium this by the way though it is a little nippy.

3 min: GOAL! Palace take the lead and it is an unbelievable strike from atleast 35 yards from Paddy McCarthy. I doubt the defender has ever scored one like that but it flew into the top corner.

6 min: Watson had wasted a free kick from a goodposition just before that strike but McCarthy was given tonnes of room by Derby. Still I don't think he was expecting to hit it that well.

7 min: Down the other end McCarthy blocks a shot from Barazite brilliantly. He's off the pitch now getting treatment on a bloody nose.

10 min: McCarthy's back on now wearing number 60 bringing an end to Watson's temporary stint at centre back. Derby have a bit of pressure but Palace get bodies in the way and block before Tomkins claims Fonte pushed him off the ball. Nothing given. All action so far though.

16 min: McCarthy gives away a free-kick 20 yards out to the right of goal when he pushes Varney and Kazmierczak (who I am going to call Kaz from now on for sheer simplicity) bends it just over with his left foot. McCarthy has been bleeding again and is forced to change his shirt again...this time he is number 59.

21 min: Kuqi clears Kaz's free-kick from out wide but it falls to Commons 20 yards out. He strikes it sweetly enough but straight down Speroni's throat.

22 min: Powell gets a foot in at the last minute to stop Scannell in the box.

27 min: It's all Derby at the minute but Palace are defending stoutly.

30 min: Beattie flashes wide from 12 yards after making space for himself from Scannell's cross.

32 min: The Palace fans have sung their hearts out so far and Warnock responds to a chant of 'Warnock Warnock give us a wave' with a cursorary thumbs up in their direction.

40 min: Speroni drops Kaz's corner under pressure from his own player and Addison hooks over with the goal gaping.

41 min: GOAL! Derby are level and the Palace players are furious. A free kick comes in and Varney challenges Speroni, seems to foul him, but the ball hits the striker and goes over the line, though Hill is adamant he cleared it. Varney celebrates in front of the Palace fans who have been taunting the ex-Charlton striker all game.

45 min: Two minutes of time added on as Warnock gets spoken to by the ref for a bit too much verbal on the sidelines. Was just a word though.

HALF TIME: It's all level at half time and even the normally calm Speroni is having animated words with the ref, Mr Oliver, over that equaliser, and as he goes down the tunnel the keeper is booked for his protests. He and the rest of the Palace players will have to get over the goal though and keep their cool second half. There's a win for the taking here if they can.

46 min: Derby get us back under way and having seen their goal again at half time there wasn't too much wrong with it. Varney jumped higher than Speroni and it seemed to just cross the line.

51 min: Kuqi pulls off his marker but heads Oster's cross straight at Carroll. He was offside anyway.

54 min: oster puts in a great cross to Beattie at the back post but the defender does well. It falls to Kuqi but he can only scamble it wide. It's quite frantic at the minute and there is not much space on offer.

60 min: Kaz's corner s flicked on by Ellington but noone gets a touch.

60 min: GOAL! Palace retake the lead. A long ball found Beattie in space on the left, in truth he was atleast a yard offside but he ran on and crossed low to the back post for Shefki Kuqi to slide the ball home and dive to the ground in his usual fashion.

63 min: Could have been game over as Carroll saves brilliantly from Beattie and then Carle's follow up is blocked.

64 min: SUB: Barazite off, Hulse on.

69 min: Beattie cuts inside onto his left foot but shoots well wide.

70 min: SUB: Carle is replaced by Derry who takes over the captain's armband.

72 min: Beattie goes past three or four Derby players before Tompkins crudely brings him down 20 yards out. The defender is booked and Beattie's free-kick hits the wall and goes wide.

73 min: DOUBLE SUB: Ellington and Commons off, Zadkovich and Villa on.

78 min: Watson pounces on a loose ball from Villa but overruns it before he can shoot.

80 min: Hill gets a great block on Villa in the box and Palace break with some great wing play and trickery from Scannell setting up Kuqi in the box but his los shot is saved by Caroll.

80 min: SUB: Kuqi off, Lee on.

85 min: Palace controlling things but keep giving the ball away.

88 min: Attendance: 27,203 and many Derby fans are leaving.

90 min: Three minutes added on as Watson hacks the ball away from the six yard box.

92 min: SUB: Scannell off, Butterfield on.

FULL TIME: Palace stretch their unbeaten run to four with a fine victory courtesy of Shefki Kuqi's goal. John Oster is my man of the match and now I'm off to get warm. See you Monday night for Southampton at home.
