WATFORD 4 v 3 CRYSTAL PALACE

Welcome to this afternoon's FA Cup fourth round tie between Crystal Palace and Watford at Vicarage Road.

Neil Warnock keeps his promise to name his strongest side today, but does make two changes from the disappointing home defeat to Ipswich a week ago, with Neil Danns replacing Nick Carle and Victor Moses in for Sean Scannell.

Watford name Jobi McAnuff in their starting 11 despite the ex-Eagle rejecting a move to Charlton yesterday.

Palace: Speroni, Lawrence, Hill, Fonte, Clyne, Derry, Danns, Oster, Ifill, Lee, Moses. Subs: Fletcher, Carle, Flahavan, Scannell, Hills, Butterfield, Kuqi.

Watford: Loach, Hoyte, Cork, DeMerit, Rasiak, McAnuff, Doyley, Harley, Hoskins, Mariappa, Jenkins. Subs: Searle, Sadler, Bridcutt, Eustace, Bangura, O'Toole, Kiernan.

2 min: McAnuff skips away from Hill and crosses for Harley, who heads on to the roof of the net. He was offside anyway. It's an awful looking pitch here and the ball has spent a lot of time in the air so far.

4 min: Another chance for Harley as this time Hoskins gets away down Watford's right and crosses for the left winger in acres of space at the back post but he gets his shot all wrong and scuffs it back across goal for Lawrence to clear.

6 min: Ifill wins a free kick in a good position but Oster can only chip it into the wall.

10 min: Clyne sprints past Harley like he wasn't even there and passes to Ifill, who slips but gets the ball back for Derry to shoot with the outside of his left foot... unsurprisingly it doesn't trouble the keeper and goes high and wide.

16 min: GOAL! Watford take the lead as Jose Fonte scuffs his clearance from Jobi McAnuff's corner as far as Jay DeMerit twelve yards out who has time to chest the ball and volley it into the top corner despite Neil Danns attempts to clear it on the line.

20 min: Hard to say whether Palace deserve to be behind, but it was poor defending from the corner and I suppose Watford have looked a little more dangerous so far.

25 min: Good chance for Palace as Lee flicks on Speroni's long free kick and Oster, from an acute angle, shoots over. That seems to be Palace's game plan today. Long balls for Lee with Ifill, Oster and Moses trying to run on to them.

26 min: Another chance as this time the free kick falls to Moses whose shot on the turn is blocked.

27 min: From a Palace corner Watford double their lead with a superb counter. Oster's delivery is to deep and cleared with ease allowing Rasiak to put McAnuff clear down the left. Clyne allows him to cross it and the ball finds Cork unmarked at the back post to head across Speroni and in.

30 min: For the second time in a week Palace find themselves 2-0 down in the opening half an hour and this will really test the character of Warnock's side now.

31 min: Almost three for Watford from another great counter but this time Harley's volley from McAnuff's cross goes just wide.

33 min: Mariappa is winning everything in the air for Watford at the back despite giving at least a foot away to Lee.

34 min: Derry lucky to escape a booking after his third reckless challenge of the afternoon.

38 min: Watford continuing to play around Palace, whose defence is looking shaky and when they do get into the home side's half they don't know what to do with it.

40 min: Cries of you don't know what you're doing ring out from the Palace directed at referee Mr Oliver who is giving a series of free kicks to Watford for innocuous challenges.

41 min: Half chance for Ifill as DeMerit opts to leave Speroni's long kick only for the winger to sneak in but he can't get a touch at a stretch and Loach gets there first.

45 min: One minute added on as Moses turns on a Lee knock down but fires over.

HALF TIME: It's been a bit better towards the end of the half from Palace but they can expect some harsh words from Warnock in the dressing room.

46 min: No changes at half time and we're back under way.

48 min: GOAL! Palace back in this as Alan Lee heads John Oster's free kick back across goal and Clint Hill nods in. That's what Palace needed.

52 min: YELLOW CARD. Fonte booked after some pushing and shoving in the box as McAnuff prepared to take a corner. Seemed harsh and all the Palace players complain.

53 min: YELLOW CARD. Lee goes into the book now as Mariappa goes down under his challenge. Again it looked harsh but the Palace players need to keep their cool here.

56 min: Good humour from the Palace fans as they come up with a nice little ditty about the referee and Elton John - which I can't really repeat on here.

60 min: All a bit scrappy here though Oster gets to the byline and Mariappa is forced to nod his cross away form under is own bar. Watford clear the first corner but from the second Lee misses a free header and Fonte steers the ball wide.

62 min: Lee finally wins a free kick off DeMerit 20 yards out and Oster curls it on to the angle of post crossbar. So close.

66 min: Watford should be two goals to the good again as Lawrence lets ths ball bounce but redeems himself by first blocking Rasiak's shot then McAnuff's on the line.

67 min: GOAL. No stopping Watford now though as McAnuff's deep corner is headed back across goal by Rasiak for Hoskins to control and volley homw without so much as a challenge. Poor defending again just as it looked like Palace might get back into this.

70 min: GOAL. More great counter attacking from Watford as Loach puches Clyne's long ball out to McAnuff who runs fully 70 yards with Danns unable to catch him before crossing low for Rasiak who has time to take a touch and shoot into the top corner with the outside of his left foot. Palace heading out of the cup.

74 min: SUB: Derry off, Fletcher on. Kuqi had been ready before the fourth goal but has his tracksuit on now. I suppose Warnock wants to put Fletcher in the shop window.

75 min: SUB: Clyne off, Butterfield on. I suppose that is to stop the youngster getting injured.

77 min: SUB: Rasiak off, O'Toole on and Kuqi also replaces Lee who was in danger of getting sent off.

80 min: Fonte heads in but Mr Oliver endears himself to Warnock a little more by blowing up for a foul that no one saw. Not that it really matters now.

83 min: GOAL! Danns get his first for the club as he fires Butterfield's cross past Loach after initially missing his header. Too little too late though I expect.

85 min: YELLOW CARD. Danns booked for protesting too much.

85 min: SUB: Hoskins off, Bridcutt on.

88 min: Chance for Moses but he glances Butterfield's cross wide with his head, which he then holds in his hands.

90 min: Maybe a glimmer of hope for Palace as the fourth official indicates five minutes extra time.

90 min: Lots of balls in the box by Palace but little else.

90 min: GOAL. Surely not. Ifill scores from Kuqi's flick on.

FULL TIME. Surely not indeed as Palace go out of the cup. Next up is Charlton on Tuesday night. See you then.
