SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY 2 v 0 CRYSTAL PALACE

Welcome to Hillsborough as Crystal Palace take on Sheffield Wednesday looking to build on their victory against Plymouth in midweek.

Neil Warnock is forced into one change as Paul Ifill has failed to recover from a slight hamstring strain and is replaced by Victor Moses. Neil Danns retains his place in the midfield ahead of Nick Carle who is on the bench, as is Rui Fonte in place of Lee Hills.

Palace: Speroni, Clyne, J Fonte, Davis, Hill, Derry (c), Danns, Oster, Moses, Scannell, Lee. Subs: Kuqi, Butterfield, Lawrence, R Fonte,Carle.

Wednesday : Grant, Spurr (c), Hinds, Tudgay, McAllister, Jeffers, Potter, Beevers, Gray, Simek, Johnson. Subs: O'Donnell, O'Connor, Clarke, Boden, Small.

It's interesting to see both Moses and Scannell in the starting 11, I'm not sure when thay happened last. I'm guessing Scannell will be up front with Lee but we'll have to wait and see I guess.

min: Palace get us off an under way in rather jittery fashion as Davis' back pass just about bobbles through to Speroni to clear.

min: Looks like Moses up with Lee and Scannell wide left.

min: Two chances for Palace in quick succession. Moses and Lee link up well and just as the latter goes to pull the trigger Beevers gets in a fantastic tackle. From the resulting corner Hill heads over under pressure.

min: And the first Warnock's a ****** chant goes up. That didn't take long. Palace on top at the minute.

min: Super play from Moses sees him make Simek look like an idiot and get to the byline from where he pulls the ball back to Oster but the Welshman makes a poor connection and the ball is cleared. Was a good chance.

min: Chance for Wednesday as Jeffers beats the offside trap and gets to the corner. His low cross finds Gray but he miscues his shot in a good position.

min: Another chance for the home side but this time it is McAllister who cannot get enough on it and Speroni gathers easily. Wednesday on top now.

min: Moses hits the post. Oster's corner comes in and Moses' first effort is blocked and his second header comes off the post. Unlucky. Some neat play from a corner then almost sets up Davis. Good invention from Palace and Moses has started very well.

min: There's a small break in play as Danns and McAllister clash heads with many Palace players going over to the bench for water and instructions. Fonte in particular was called over by Warnock and Derry is having a few words with Clyne.

min: Super defending from Clyne as Johnson escapes down the left and crosses for Jeffers, who was in loads of space but Clyne gets back and prevents the striker getting to the ball and he has to foul the youngster.

min: Davis shows his pace by sticking with Johnson down the left and conceding a corner which Tudgay heads over under pressure from Fonte, who lost him a bit in honesty.

min: Fonte flicks on Moses' long throw but Scannell can only head the ball up in the air and Grant claims.

min: YELLOW CARD. Clyne booked as he cynically pulls Johnson down on inch outside the box. Potter wastes the free kick by trying to shoot from the angle but he only hits Danns.

min: Hill tries a half volley from 20 yards but it takes a deflection and falls on the top of the net. He then fouls Johnson from the ensuing corner.

min: You would think Frannie Jeffers would know the offside rule by now, but no. He is caught offside for the fifth time today. Speroni's free-kick goes long and ends up with Moses who flashes over from the angle.

min: Clyne caught at briefly as Johnson runs from deep but the youngster recovers and eventually Fonte gives away a corner which come in only for Davis to head it straight out again and Derry clears the next one.

min: Three minutes added on.

HALF TIME: Not bad by Palace, it's been pretty even really. More of the same second half hopefully.

min: Wednesday get us under way again and there are no changes from either side.

min: Great block from Hinds as Lee puts Moses through and as the youngster volleys towards goal the defender flings himself in front of the shot and blocks with his leg.

min: As a side note Carl Fletcher has just got him name on the scoresheet for Plymouth against Sheffield United.

min: Hill gets a head to Oster's free kick but can only direct it wide. Davis looks like he might be struggling and is shaking his head. Lawrence is warming up.

min: SUB: Davis goes off and is replaced by Lawrence. Looks like a problem with his right leg.

min: Danns wins a free kick on the edge of the box as he goes over Beevers' outstetched leg. Oster wastes it though and fires low straight into the wall.

min: Good pressure from Palace but they can't get the shot away. Moses attempts to win a penalty but the fall was a little late. Palace look the more likely but are not creating anything clear cut.

min: SUB: Gray off, Clarke on.

min: Fonte gets back brilliantly to concede a corner as Clarke looked to be through and Derry heads the resulting corner out from under his own bar.

min: YELLOW CARD. Jeffers on Clyne down the right.

min: SUB: Moses off, Kuqi on. Odd, Moses has been Palace's best player. He did get a knock to the ankle not so long ago though so maybe that's why.

min: From the free kick for the foul on Clyne Hill heads against the post. That's twice Palace have hit the woodwork.

min: Wednesday get a free kick in a good spot but Potter puts it straight into Speroni's welcoming arms. Rui looks like he might be getting ready.

min: Oster lines Derry up 20 yards out but the drive rather unsurprisingly goes well wide.

min: Scannell does a little too much in clearing a corner and Tudgay gets a shot in but it's easy for Speroni.

min: YELLOW CARD. Lawrence booked as he takes Jeffers down from behind in the 'd'. some refs may even have given a red for that but Clyne was near enough...just. Jeffers hits the wall with his kick - there's been a lot of that today.

min: SUB: Jeffers, who has done his best impression of an angry scouser today, is replaced by Small, who terrorised Palace here last year.

min: GOAL! Wednesday take the lead as McAllister fires home after being found alone at the back post. Good finish but poor defending from Palace.

min: SUB: Derry off, Butterfield on.

min: Wednesday are after a second and playing with some flair now too. I'm not sure Kuqi has done anything since he came on.

min: Johnson wriggles free of Lawrence in the box and shoots into the side netting.

min: Panic in the Wednesday box and Lee bobbles a shot just wide.

min: Four minutes on as Kuqi fires wide and Johnson is booked for blocking a free kick from which neither Kuqi or Scannell can get a shot in from.

min: GOAL. All over as Clarke finishes off a fine move by tapping in Johnson's cross on the counter.

FULL TIME. Oh dear. That wasn't a poor performance from Palace but unlike Tuesday they didn't take their chances and were punished for that late on. Surely the play offs are a distant dream now. Next up is Birmingham at Selhurst on Tuesday, see you then.
