Newcastle United are set to travel to Crystal Palace on Saturday without Ivory Coast international Cheick Tiote.

The 29-year-old midfielder picked up a knock in the 3-0 home defeat to Leicester last week and is unlikely to be fit enough to feature at Selhurst Park.

Tiote, who has played 124 Premier League games for Newcastle, is expected to miss out on the trip along with teammates Tim Krul, Steven Taylor and Jack Colback.

However, one positive for the Magpies is that goalkeeper Karl Darlow has told the Evening Chronicle that he is fit to return to first team action.

The 25-year-old stopper, who joined Newcastle from Nottingham Forest last summer, is yet to make an appearance for the club but could earn a chance with Krul a long-term absentee.

Palace, who were beaten 1-0 by Sunderland on Monday night, will be eager to get back to winning ways with Alan Pardew reuniting with his former club.
