Contrary to reports Tottenham Hotspur do not have first refusal on West Bromwich Albion striker Saido Berahino this summer.

Spurs decided not to make a bid for the player, who last summer had been their main transfer target, during the January transfer window.

However, Spurs prospect Alex Pritchard moved to the Hawthorns from White Hart Lane on loan last month for.

That lead to suggestions West Brom chairman Jeremy Peace and his Spurs counterpart, Daniel Levy, had come to an agreement over a summer transfer for Berahino.

But the Express and Star claim that is not the case and Spurs won't have first refusal on the England Under-21 international.

Berahino is keen to join the north Londoners and tried to force through a move during the summer window.

He saw a transfer request turned down by the Midlands club and then took to Twitter to say he wouldn't play for Albion chairman Peace again.

He has since fallen out of favour under head coach Tony Pulis and hasn't started a Premier League match in four months. He has scored three times in eight league starts this season.
