Chas Symonds has his sights firmly set on arch rival Ross Minter after comprehensively winning his non-title fight at the Wembley Conference Centre on Friday night.

The unbeaten welterweight fighter, from Stroud Green Road, beat Pontefract fighter Peter Dunn on points, 40-36, in a four-round contest and is now focusing on Minter, who was also on the same bill beating Ernie Smith.

Symonds said: "The fight with Minter should be sorted out this week and I'm 100 per cent confident I can beat him.

"I haven't seen a video of his fight yet, but there is no way he can beat me, I would not let him beat me, I would fight till the death."

The 22-year-old came out on top on Friday despite last-minute changes to the fight card, which meant the Croydon fighter fought a four-round contest instead of six and was put last on the card, after top-of-the-bill Matt Skelton's fight had finished.

But Symonds didn't let the changes disturb his preparation as he put in a professional performance against his experienced opponent.

Symonds said: "The fight went well, I was a bit disappointed with all the changes but a win is a win.

"Dunn is a very clever fighter, I don't know how he lasted the four rounds because of all the body shots I was giving him."

In the first round Symonds was a little too eager to go for the knock out and received a big hit in the second, but he really got going in the third when he dropped Dunn on the canvas with a powerful left.

Dunn refused to give in and managed to finish the fight, despite a flurry of body shots by Symonds that took a lot out of the Pontefract fighter.

But now all attention will be focused on Ross Minter and with an April date being touted, Symonds is already starting his preparations.

Symonds added: "Normally you have a couple of weeks off after a fight, but I'm back in training today Tuesday.

"He Minter has been slagging me off in the press, so I can't wait to get it on and stop all this talking.

"This fight is going to make me."
