Olympic bronze medal winning snowboarder Jenny Jones has helped launch a fitness fortnight.

Ms Jones visited the Federation of Singlegate and William Morris Primary Schools on Monday to kick-start the sport fortnight which will feature events including riding a smoothie bike to make smoothies, designing cereal bars and taking part in a sponsored run.

The schools have also got the families involved with weekly circuit, running and personal training sessions.

Ms Jones, who took the bronze in her snowboarding event in Sochi earlier this year, took part in an assembly at both schools to talk about her career and help inspire the budding young athletes.

Executive headteacher Nathalie Bull said: “To have key inspirational athletes like Jenny Jones sharing her goals and achievements with our children is an honour and a motivational experience to learn from.

“Both schools have worked in partnership to embrace our federated vision that promotes physical fitness as not only one of the most important keys to a healthy body; it is also the basis of dynamic and creative intellectual activity.”
