St Mary’s University’s Charlie Grice was pleased to retain his British men’s 1500m title and prove a point at the Alexander Stadium, Birmingham on Sunday.
The 21-year-old Twickenham-based middle distance specialist led the way during the last 300m, holding off nearest challenger Chris O’Hare, to win in three minutes 50.66 seconds.
“I’m really chuffed to get the win,” said a delighted Grice.
“I’ve learnt that I can deal with anything.
“I knew that if I stayed relaxed, ran my own race and stayed out of trouble, I would come out on top.
“It was a really strong field and I’m glad everyone was here because last year when I won, people said it was only because not everyone was there, so I’m glad I’ve won again.”
