Novice Jamie bags a big un

Jamie Matthews, 14, has only been fishing for six months, but caught his 2lb 2oz roach on his first visit to Twynersh fisheries at Chertsey last week, writes Ray Robson.

Accompanied by cousin Freddie, also 14, on a family weekend visit to Tooting from his native Nottingham, Jamie set up waggler rod with double red maggot on pit one.

That instantly brought him small roach, rudd and skimmers.

Late in the session, Jamie was into the roach - the biggest fish he has landed.

Rob Brigdon landed a 4lb 2oz crucian carp on a visit to Godalming AC's Marsh Farm.

He float fished caster to tempt the fantastic fish.

I have had good reports that Willinghurst, Old Bury Hill, Studpond, Beaver Farm, Henfold and Furnace lakes are all fishing their socks off at the moment.

Tell me about your catches on 07935 330216.
