Super League Man of Steel Rangi Chase has been handed a three-match ban for the challenge that left Featherstone winger Tangi Ropati with a broken jaw.

The Castleford player was ordered to face the Rugby Football League's disciplinary commitee after being put on report during his side's 23-16 Carnegie Challenge Cup fifth-round defeat at the Bigfellas Stadium on Saturday.

He was found guilty of the grade C offence at a hearing in Leeds and was given a £300 fine in addition to a three-game ban.

Former Sheffield and Widnes threequarter Ropati has had his jaw plated after breaking it in two places and is facing a lay-off of between 10 and 12 weeks.
