Met Police manager Jim Cooper slammed his team's shameful performance after they were dumped out of the Senior Surrey Cup semi-finals by Godalming Town.

A solitary Gary McDonald header was all Met had to show from a 2-1 defeat to the side the Evo-Stik Division One Central on Thursday.

And it was a defeat fully deserved, according to Cooper, as Godalming showed more determination and desire than their higher league opponents.

He said: "It was a shocking game in awful conditions on a pitch that did not suit our style of play.

"Regardless, I am very disappointed. Our performance was shameful. There was no passion and no determination.

"Godalming were not better than us, they just wanted it more."

He added: "I could not understand why they were playing with the attitude that they could not be bothered.

"It was a cup semi-final and if they cannot get their enthusiasm up for a cup semi-final then we are wasting our time.

"After the game I asked them all, what motivates you, because if it's not a semi-final, then something is wrong."

This weekend, Hampton & Richmond are the visitors to Imber Court and Cooper is looking forward to seeing a reaction from his players.

He said: "There will be changes for tomorrow, but I am fully expecting the players to bounce back and give me a performance that is so much better than what I saw last night."
