Owusu makes himself a home at Walton & Herhsam

Walton & Hersham striker Julian Owusu has settled into life at Stompond Lane after finding his goalscoring touch once more.

Owusu has played in the Skrill South and Ryman Premier League in recent seasons, for Hayes & Yeading and Carshalton Athletic respectively.

But he believes his form has been reignited at the managerless Ryman Division One South outfit after hitting four goals in five games.

“Some people might look at the move and say its a step backwards, but I don’t think that. There is a good set-up and bunch of people here,” said Owusu.

“I contacted the chairman after leaving Carshalton in September because I’d been there as a teenager.

“We had a chat and he invited me down, and my team-mates and manager all made it easy for me to settle in.”

The Ghanaian forward’s goals have helped reignite Walton’s promotion hopes moving them up to sixth in the table – only eight points adrift of derby rivals Walton Casuals at the top.

“I think our form really does stem from taking each game as it comes, nobody particularly looks to the future,” Owusu added.

“If we keep up our good form going into Christmas and over the New Year period, I believe we could remain a contender heading into the final straight.”

And, despite possibly knowing Owusu only by name, a collection of impressive strikes have definitely endeared him to the Swans faithful, including a 35-yard half volley in the 2-2 draw with Three Bridges.

“The Carshalton fans, unfortunately, didn’t see the best of me, but I remained confident in my abilities,” Owusu said.

“Some of the lads gave me some stick saying that goal was a fluke, but I told them I’d do it again and scored from distance against Redhill last Saturday.

“I don’t fear playing against anyone and I’m hungry for more goals.”
