Leatherhead moved up two places to fourth in Ryman Division One South following a disappointing 0-0 draw against Burgess Hill on Tuesday.

Manager Richard Brady signed Maidstone United U21 goalkeeper Will Godmon as cover for the unavailable Deren Ibrahim in an otherwise unchanged line up at Fetcham Grove.

The young keeper had a solid debut, making a good low save to his right from Greg Luer’s shot after 11 minutes.

The closest either side came to scoring was on the half-hour mark. Burgess Hill’s Sam Fisk hit a rising shot from 20 yards which scraped the top of the Tanners crossbar.

Leatherhead were forced to play out the final 20 minutes of the match with 10 men when left back Dan Parkinson was dismissed after receiving two yellow cards in quick succession for a couple of wayward challenges.

Brady reshaped his team following Parkinson’s dismissal, with Leroy Griffiths and Ian Draycott making way for Ryan Mahal and Tom Parkinson to shore up the visitors’ defence, leaving Tom Bradbrook as Tanners’ lone striker.

Bradbrook missed a difficult chance to put Leatherhead in front after 79 minutes, firing wide from a tight angle, while Godmon did well to keep out efforts from Burgess Hill’s Paul Armstrong and Miller in the closing exchanges.

Tanners go to Three Bridges this weekend.
