Kingstonian boss Alan Dowson will not be rushed into making signings for next season, although he admits he needs to act quickly to secure the services of Saheed Sankoh.

The former England U18 international has been told he has no future at Conference side Woking, and the pacy frontman is on many a non-league manager's hitlist.

Sankoh enjoyed a fruitful loan spell at Kingsmeadow last season, proving a hit with fans - when he wasn't injured.

Dowson is scouring the transfer market for players to strengthen his squad, and thinks it could take until the start of the season before he has a settled camp.

"It is important we get the right quality players in, and I am busy looking at the list of players released by Conference sides to see what we can come up with," he said.

"Sankoh is definitely someone we would be interested in but we are just one of a few sides interested in taking him on, so we will see how that develops in the next 48 hours.

"I know other people are busy getting players in but I only want people who genuinely want to play for the club.

"It is ridiculous at the moment. My phone is ringing all the time with players looking for trials and me ringing around for others, but that is what you have to put up with."

Dowson is confident tough-tackling Tommy Moorhouse will commit himself to Ks for next season, and is due to have talks with several other first-teamers in the next two weeks.

And, as far as the manager is concerned, the door is open for anyone else to leave in the lead-up to pre-season.

"I'm not bothered with who wants to go. If people think they should be in the team, all they have to do is prove they are good enough and they will be in," he added.
