Hampton & Richmond Borough defender Dean Inman has urged his team-mates to take their cup heroics into the league.

The 21-year-old starred for the Beavers as they beat Blue Square Premier side Hayes & Yeading on Saturday to land an FA Trophy second round clash at Ryman Premier League strugglers East Thurrock United.

It followed last weekend’s 2-1 Middlesex Senior cup triumph over the same team and made it four wins in a row for boss Mark Harper’s men.

Hampton, who secured only their second clean sheet of the season at the weekend, are struggling at the foot of the Blue Square South table.

And Inman, whose recent form has attracted the attention of Premier League side QPR, insisted it was time the squad addressed the Beavers’ league form.

“Last week, we beat them 2-1 in the Middlesex Senior Cup and this week we won with the same attitude.

“They are from the league above so it’s always good to have a nice scalp especially after the FA Cup run when we went out in poor fashion to Arlesey Town," he said.

“We are paying the club back for that and the fans got behind us today. It was great to be around.

“We have won the past two games in the league as well so we’re doing something right.”

And Beveree chief Harper echoed his man’s thoughts.

“This was the key game for the club. From a revenue perspective I think it’s great all around,” he added.

“The result is great credit to the guys because the first third of the season we haven’t been able to keep a clean sheet.

“Now we’ve gone on to win four games and picked up a couple of clean sheets as well which is what football is all about.

“The boys are more than happy with the result but unfortunately it’s one of those where you have to start bringing them back down to reality.

“I want us to be playing that well and getting those results in the league because that’s more important than anything else.

“If they play like that we have got every chance of staying up.”
