Boss Alan Dowson has warned star striker Bobby Traynor he may have to settle for a place on the bench for a little while longer.

Traynor has started only one of Kingstonian’s past five games, while young forward Stuart Duff has led the line with aplomb in recent weeks.

And the Kingsmeadow chief admitted the form of the former Hampton & Richmond Borough striker is keeping the 28-year-old sidelined.

“Bobby is obviously not happy being on the bench, but we’ve tinkered with the formation recently and it is working with Duffer [Stuart Duff] up front,” he said.

“We’ve only lost one game in eight. You don’t change a winning team, so that is the way it will be for now.

“I’ve got to pick the team that I think will beat Margate on Saturday and that is all I worry about.”

New boy Ryan Woods netted his first goal for the club as Kingstonian beat high flying Ryman Premier League title-chasers Lowestoft Town 2-0 at Kingsmeadow on Monday night.

The 23-year-old, signed from North American Soccer League side Minnesota Stars last week, gave his side a 30th minute lead, before second half substitute Traynor made the game safe in the 90th minute.

Woods and fellow new boy Saheed Sankoh both featured as Ks drew 0-0 at Cray Wanderers on Saturday.

“We’ve had two good results after slipping up against Concord and we deserved to win on Monday,” added Dowson.

“If you work hard you get your rewards and that is what we have done.

“Ryan has looked very lively in training. His attitude has been spot on and I’m pleased for him. Saheed has come back to us a different player, but the real plus for us has been the two centre backs.”
