Shaw feeling the buzz of 2012
6:03pm Thursday 22nd March 2012 in Sport By James Haggis
Wandsworth-born windsurfer Bryony Shaw is in confident mood as the countdown to the Olympic Games hots up.
The 28-year-old was a bronze medallist in Beijing four years ago and has already secured her place in Team GB to try and do better this time around.
She has been training at the Olympic site in Weymouth and revealed she is beginning to feel the buzz.
“It is amazing that we have got a home Olympic Games and I am already feeling the local support that we have got here,” she said.
“To be sailing in your home waters is really exciting.
“I have performed very well in Weymouth in previous regattas here and I definitely seem to perform well under pressure, so bring it on.
“Winning bronze in Beijing was the highlight of my career so far.
“It was just such an atmosphere and to be part of the successful team out there.
“I always draw on that feeling when things are rough and you try to get motivated.”
