Croydon Harrier Peter Chambers claimed an impressive 12th place at the Home Counties International cross-country championships in Dinefwr, Wales on Saturday, writes Matt Kiernan.
The 18 year-old Trinity pupil was representing the South of England team, and covered the 7.2km course in 24 minutes and 24 seconds.
He was the third scorer home for the squad and helped them secure team bronze behind England and Wales.
In the highlights of the ParkRun action, Simon Loughran notched his first win at Nonsuch Park in Epsom in 18:52, while Stevie Lawrence won the women’s category at Lloyd Park in blizzard-like conditions. Laurence Johnston was also in the top three at Lloyd Park claiming third position in 20:57.
Three Harriers were in action at the Reading Half Marathon. Aaron Moyce (1342nd) returned to action with a run of one hour, 35 minutes and 54 seconds.
Reading University athletics captain Colm Teeluck (3911th) completed the race in 1:48.24 and Sarah Bruce-Green (5696th) crossed the line in 1:55.30.
Fellow club colleagues Abbie Burrett and Michael Eagling had hoped to represent Surrey Schools at the South east inter-counties in Chelmsford after earning selection back in January, but the event was cancelled due to adverse weather conditions.
