Spencer’s first game in the Surrey Championship Premier Division ended in defeat on Saturday.
Spencer were promoted as Division One champions last season and Daniel O’Shea’s figures of 3-36 helped reduce Reigate Priory to 151-5 in a rain-affected 40 overs.
The Duckworth Lewis method was enforced and saw Spencer set a target of 187 in 40 overs and they fell just short, ending on 178-9. They host Guildford next Saturday.
Jack O’Brien was the star of the show as Bank of England began their Surrey Championship Division Three season with victory at Cobham Avorians on Saturday. O’Brien recorded figures of 3-10 from his eight overs and Janil Ramesh took 3-16 from nine as Cobham made 127 all out.
It was a target Bank reached easily, with opener Paul Harper top-scoring with 43 as they won by four wickets. They are at home to Addiscombe next Saturday.
