Two of Hercules Wimbledon AC's young sprinters reached the intermediate boys 100m final at the English Schools championships at Birmingham's Alexander Stadium on Saturday.
Surrey intermediate boys 100m champion Theo Etienne just missed out on a medal as he sprinted to fifth place in 11.13 seconds, just 0.17 seconds behind the winner.
Not far behind was his clubmate Kevin Owusu-Mantey who was seventh in 11.16secs.
Etienne's best effort came in the semi-final round when he was third in his heat in 11.03secs with Owusu-Mantey just behind in fourth place in 11.05secs.
After a false start in his heat, a nervous Max Mondelli failed by just two-hundredths of a second to make the final of the senior boys 100m.
He was fourth in his heat in 11.09secs, and his hopes of gaining a consolation gold medal in the sprint relay were dashed as he anchored Surrey to sixth place in a tough competition.
A fourth Hercules Wimbledon athlete in action in Birmingham was all-rounder Adam Magni, the London schools champion, who was eighth in the intermediate boys shot with a throw of 13.23m.
