Andrew Triggs Hodge has warned he will not be taking a backward step on the road to Olympic gold in Rio.
Triggs Hodge and fellow Molesey Boat Club men Moe Sbihi and George Nash helped make British men’s eight rowing history in South Korea on Sunday.
The trio were part of the crew that claimed gold for Great Britain at the World Championships in Chungju by clocking five minutes 30.35 seconds to beat Olympic champions Germany into second place by 0.54 seconds.
It is the first time Britain have won the eights event in the history of the competition and London Olympics men's four champion Triggs Hodge said it was the standard that needed to be maintain until the 2016 Olympics in Brazil.
"Thank you to everyone who backed us," he wrote on Facebook.
"It is going to be a tough road to Rio, but we've set the bar high.
"I for one am not planning on stepping back."
